Dr. LaKeisha Batts poses with The Science Society after her presentation

International Day for Women and Girls in S.T.E.M.

Last meeting we Celebrated the International Day for Women and Girls in STEM by inviting immunologist and entrepreneur Dr. LaKeisha Batts to come and speak to us about her experience in the STEM field. Dr. Batts shared with us her educational and professional background. She showed us how the choice of staying home with her two girls helped shape her business, Science Unlimited, LLC, where she created mobile STEM labs and tutoring services.

Last semester Dr. Batts offered The Science Society an opportunity to work with Science Unlimited, LLC in offering The Boys and Girls Club of Pasadena, TX math and science tutoring for STAAR testing. She is also one of our generous sponsors who has donated to our organization.  As an excellent mentor and role model and we were happy to have her come speak on a day celebrating positive female influences in STEM.

If you missed her awesome talk check out these excellent videos discussing women in STEM. I love the first video because it echos the exact sentiment that Dr Batts shared with us yesterday about being a woman in STEM.
